In the quietness of an early Saturday morning having just finished devotions, the thought occurred to me; "What does so many people find so wrong about prosperity?" There are good, God-loving, Bible-toting Christian people, ministers even, who will fight you tooth and nail regarding prosperity. I won't go into all the scriptures regarding prosperity here - you can read all of them in the Apologetics section under prosperity. But suffice it to say, many of these good folks find the idea of a Christian being "prosperous" absolutely revolting. 3 John 2 says "Beloved, I pray that you may PROSPER IN ALL THINGS and be in health, just as your soul prospers." Being in poverty is BONDAGE - pure and simple.A Christian who is in debt is in bondage to his creditors. If you owe a mortgage, two car payments and are maxed out on credit card debt, then you are a slave to whomever hold your notes. You cannot leave your job to go where God tells you, no matter how bad you hate it, because you have to slave every single day to meet your obligations. You can't give your car to someone in need of one, because you don't OWN your car -the bank does. You can't fly across the state to attend a meeting or go on a missions trip, because the finances simply are not there to buy the ticket, pay for the hotel or purchase your meals. It's funny that the preachers whom preach AGAINST prosperity, are the same ones begging for your small gift or their ministry is going to go off the air. Folks, prosperity is God's will for His people. It is a BLESSING for those who seek God and do His will, and not a curse. Covetousness is a sin - not money. There are people who operate in greed and covetousness who don't have a dime! Galatians declare that if we are Abraham's seed, we are heirs according to the promise. The Blessing of Abraham are ours. It would behoove every Christian to go back to Deut. 28 and read what is included in The Blessing. All of the things listed under the Blessing are OURS, if we seek God with all of our hearts, obey His Word and follow in His steps. Why is that so hard to understand?
